 WELCOME AND PRAYER

MEDITATION MOMENT

PRELUDE

 INVOCATION
L: We begin this hour of worship in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

 All: Amen.

CONFESSION

L: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves.

We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.

Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
 Amen.

 ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

P: In the mercy of Almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you, and for his sake God forgives you all your sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit.
 All: Amen

Opening Hymn -    OPEN MY EYES THAT I MAY SEE  (See Screens for lyrics)

 PRAYER OF THE DAY

L: The Lord be with you.

 ALL: And also with you.

L: Let us pray together.

ALL: Loving God, thank you for providing for our needs and blessing us with your love. Help us to grow in your Spirit and share your gifts.

L: In Jesus' name we pray.

 ALL: Amen.

 FIRST LESSON

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

 GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

Alleluia, Alleluia
 Alleluia, Alleluia!

 GOSPEL

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE  THE 12TH  CHAPTER

All - Glory to You, O Lord

GOSPEL READING Luke 12:13-21

Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?”

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “

Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

Pastor: The Gospel of our Lord

All: Praise to You, O Christ

NICENE  CREED

We believe in one God,
 the Father, the Almighty,
 maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
 the only Son of God,
 eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
 true God from true God,
 begotten, not made,
 of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
 he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary
 and became truly human.
 For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
 in accordance with the scriptures;
 he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy Christian and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
