 WELCOME AND PRAYER

MEDITATION MOMENT

PRELUDE

 INVOCATION
L: We begin this hour of worship in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

 All: Amen.

CONFESSION

L: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves.

We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.

Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
 Amen.

 ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

P: In the mercy of Almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you, and for his sake God forgives you all your sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit.
 All: Amen

Opening Hymn -   Now Thank We All Our God   (See Screens for lyrics)

 PRAYER OF THE DAY

L: The Lord be with you.

 ALL: And also with you.

L: Let us pray together.

ALL: Compassionate God, in times of doubt, help us to turn out to you. Lead us by your Spirit and open our hearts to your grace.

L: In Jesus' name we pray.

 ALL: Amen.

 FIRST LESSON

2 Corinthians 5:16-18
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

 GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

 Alleluia, Alleluia!

 GOSPEL

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW THE 4TH CHAPTER

All - Glory to You, O Lord

GOSPEL READING:

GOSPEL READING
GOSPEL READING Matthew 4:36-16
Leaving the crowd behind, Jesus and the disciples returned to their boats. There were also other boats with him.  A furious storm came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Pastor: The Gospel of our Lord

All: Praise to You, O Christ

APOSTLES'  CREED

We believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
